Peninsula School Board
The Board normally holds regular meetings on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the District Administration Office (14015-62nd Ave. NW, Gig Harbor, WA 98332). Occasionally, the Board will meet in one of the District's schools or change the date of a meeting, so it is best to check the District's website or call and confirm the meeting time and location (530-1000).
During the months of February, April, July, August, November, and December the Board may schedule only a single meeting. These will be regular business meetings held at the District Administration Office. Dates and times are publicly advertised and available on the District's website.
State law permits the Board to go into executive session only to discuss evaluation of a public employee, qualifications of an applicant, or candidate issues; discussion with legal counsel relating to agency enforcement actions, litigation or potential litigation; real estate site selection or acquisition of property; price for real estate sale or transfer; review negotiations on the performance of publicly bid contracts; or national security. Although discussion of these items may occur in executive session, action can only be taken in a public meeting.
A Study Session may be called by the Board to discuss one or more topics in depth. Study Sessions give the Board an opportunity to study an issue without making a decision. When necessary, special meetings may be called. This occurs when action cannot wait until the next regularly scheduled Board meeting. Generally these meetings will only address a single issue and the local newspapers are advised at least 24 hours in advance. Study Sessions and Special Meetings are also posted at the School District Administration Office and on the District website.
